FISH FOR A CURE “BLUEWATER BABES” TOURNAMENT REELED IN A WINNER
Jupiter, Fla., U.S.A., October 11, 2011 – The 3rd Annual Bluewater Babes Fish for a Cure Tournament was held September 30 and October 1 with the largest crowds and fishing field to date! The tournament had a total of 82 boats registered and more than 1000 people in attendance for the evening events and weigh in at the Square Grouper Tiki Bar in Jupiter. The weather was picturesque, the boats decorated with creativity and love and the female anglers overjoyed to spend the day on the water. This year’s proceeds from Fish for a Cure will benefit local breast and ovarian cancer patients through the Cancer Alliance for Help and Hope and H.O.W. – Hearing the Ovarian Cancer Whisper.
A special thank you on behalf of the Bluewater Babes goes out to Honorary Event Chairman Robert Allenby for his generous donation of $10,000 to this year’s event. And in keeping with the generous celebrity support of the event, country-music legend Alan Jackson and his family joined in the fun and fishing this year aboard the “Hullbilly.”
Laura Pitten from the Best Overall Theme winner “Racing for a Cure” aboard the “Clean Livin’” summed up why she and her team fish this event every year. “Our Clean Livin’ Fishing Team consists of women in business, education, law and insurance. We are professional philanthropic women who love to fish. With the BWB, our team selects a theme that supports Breast Cancer awareness and incorporates the theme into our boat decorating, our cocktail and our costumes. Twenty pink flags with the names of our friends and family who have been touched by Breast Cancer have been flown on our outriggers. Unlike men’s tournaments, the comradery and support is amazing. Simply said – It’s a lot of fun and a little fishing for a great cause!”
